Somerville Jack Left to Know

~The sparkling waltz of tongues~

After an annoying week and a half of being forced to take a technical vacation from my computer, Strange Fires returns with a beautifully dreamy track I’ve been gearing up to post the previous few weeks by Canadian dream act Somerville Jack from a recent compilation by Track and Field Records. This brilliant example of modern dreampop perfectly executed is pure sugar to the shoegazer ear and something truly beautiful to listen to even if you arent familiar with the genre.

Whether the whole dreamy shoegaze/jangle pop thing is new to you or not you should definitely check Somerville Jack out just to be sure, I was excited to post this as soon as I heard it.
If you need another taste of Somerville Jack and need some more drone with your jangle then definitely check out the track “Kali”. The last third of the song takes a groovy twist that brings the song home in a lovely way

premiere: Cemeteries - Sodus

Kyle Reigle tells me that this new work is “sort of a love-letter to slowburn 80s horror films especially ones set in small lakeside towns like The Fog. I recently moved to Portland, Oregon from Western New York and the change of scenery has been really inspirational and has changed my songwriting/recording approach.” I think he’s on to something here, if these images don’t already do it justice:
