Is it possible that SXSW is both a marathon and a sprint at the same time? Is there a word for that? There doesn’t seem to be a moment to breathe. The madness all around you, the heart beating, the pulse of the thing.

I’m catching up on posts from the night before with eyes still cracking with salt and dried sweat. Looking back on it, there’s a million minutes encapsulated into one mash of color and sound, none of which seem to make sense as it happens. But congealed into a large organism when you have that lonely second to stop and think about it, the puzzle crafts a gorgeous art.

Those of you who have been there, as a performer, as a writer, as a music fan, know these elements. That’s why you keep coming back, as a right of passage. You who have not had the chance to experience it in the flesh would, I hope, consider the pilgrimage at least once in your life.
